AlleghenyCONNECT

AlleghenyCONNECT is a county-wide, high-speed education network that enables educators and students in public schools across Allegheny County to create, communicate, collaborate and share valuable resources to increase student learning. Forty one suburban school districts and four career and technical career centers and the Allegheny Intermediate Unit are members of AlleghenyCONNECT.

View the AlleghenyCONNECT Brochure to learn more.

The network has 45 connection points including the local school districts and career centers, and through them, approximately 200 public school buildings.  There are also connection points to the Internet, Internet2 and PAIUnet, the statewide connection of Intermediate Units. Regional networks are connected to over 400 districts across the state of Pennsylvania serving over 1.3 million students.

AlleghenyCONNECT is a program within the Allegheny Intermediate Unit program of services providing connectivity and rich content to the districts served. The leadership team of AlleghenyCONNECT is comprised of two co-administrators, a senior program director and a program director that interface with six committees comprised of stakeholder members.  The committees include curriculum, instruction, and professional development; infrastructure; communications; community development; governance; and consortium purchasing.

The mission of the network is to:

  • Fundamentally enhance and expand the educational opportunities within the AIU-region schools
  • Provide world-class connectivity to our educational systems
  • Encourage the shared application of technology
  • Build stronger relationships with the community to promote and support the network

There is a three-year plan to connect all of the participating schools. View the AlleghenyCONNECT District Connection Timeline for a complete listing of each district and their connection timeline.
